Fuchs-Silkolene
is one of the world's largest ranges of specialist motorcycle and
motorsport lubricants, developed on the race track to ensure
ultimate performance and protection.
Originally known as Dalton and Company after its founder, the
Company changed its name to Silkolene Lubricants in the early 80’s
in recognition of the strength of the brand name. In 1989 the
Company became a member of the German Fuchs Group, a major
international force in advanced lubrication technology, and now
operates as Fuchs Lubricants (UK) plc with Silkolene being the
Group’s motorcycle range brand name.
Historically the Silkolene brand gained international status with
specialist oils for engines as diverse as the Spitfire’s Merlin and
involvement with Concorde’s development. Silkolene worked for many
years with the United States Airforce on a technical collaboration
programme for strategic purposes. The project involved many aspects
of synthetic lubrication technology and saw the Company become a
leader in the field.
In the early 1980s, utilising the synthetics technology developed
for aerospace applications, the Company successfully entered the UK
motorsports market with Silkolene rally teams and a long term
Sponsorship arrangement with the Honda UK Motorcycle Race Team.
Following a measured strategy of extensive research and development
coupled with track testing at the highest levels of competition, the
Silkolene brand soon became the UK market leader. Today the brand is
manufactured in the UK, Mainland Europe, USA and South East Asia.
Silkolene products are distributed in over 40 different countries.
The Silkolene name has been linked with many great power sports
achievements at European, USA and World levels, proving Silkolene
lubricants to be world class in all motorsport activities including
motorcycles, watercraft, car racing and kart racing. In motorcycle
racing, the brand is the first choice of factory teams such as
Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki. In motorcycle road racing Silkolene
riders have scored many significant successes in Grand Prix World
Championships, World Superbikes and the Isle of Man TT, possibly the
hardest road race of them all.
The Company’s greatest strength lies in its ability to develop and
modify advanced technology to meet the specific requirements of
niche markets - manufacturing specific products for precise
applications. The Silkolene brand is the `research led, race bred`
range of `add value` products designed and manufactured to meet the
unique requirements of motorcycles.
Being part of the Fuchs Group, the Company benefits from rapid
innovations and a high degree of specialisation. Fuchs Lubricants
(UK) plc has been designated as the Fuchs Group’s Motorcycle
Lubricants Marketing Centre co-ordinating the exclusivity and
strength of the Silkolene brand and technology
