Outer Shell:
In the event of an accident, the outer shell will absorb and disperse the impact.
FRP - A composite material made up of synthetic resin reinforced with organic fibers and
fiberglass. Manufacturing costs to produce FRP shells are very high, but the use of
modern, lightweight fibers make it possible to produce very strong, yet lightweight
shells. Thermoplastics on the other hand, which are used to produce most of the
helmets (lowe end helmets) on the road today, must be very thick to provide the required
protection and this makes these helmets very heavy. These thermoplastics are also
not very resistant to chemicals and the Sun's UV rays, which will weaken them over time.
