Shield mounting instructions for FX-12 helmets

Visor mounting instructions for FX-6R, FX-8R and FX-9 helmets

Thank you for purchasing our FX-6R, FX-8R or FX-9 helmet. Please use the following steps to correctly install your helmet's visor:

  • Use the three sided thumb screw to attach the center visor tab to the helmet, tighten about half way
  • Install and tighten both flat slotted side screws and washers
  • Re-tighten center thumb screw, taking care not to over tighten

How can I clean my helmet's liner?

T
he liner system in your new AFX helmet has been designed for years of care free and comfortable use. You may choose to remove the liner and wash it or replace it for added freshness. If you choose to do so please follow the following instructions.

FX-6R and FX-8R Motocross Helmet Liner Removal

This three-piece liner is easy removed by first unsnapping the cheek pads and pulling them over the chin straps. The main comfort liner is attached by two snaps at the back of the neck and by locator tabs on the front of the forehead area. Just pull down on the liner to release these tabs.

After washing, reassemble the liner system by reinstalling the three pieces. Make sure that the locator tabs on the cheek pads and the main liner fit between the liner and the shell, and the snaps on the back of the main liner and the cheek pads are secure. Please make sure the chin straps are routed through the cut outs in the cheek pads.

Liner Removal for the X-15R Street Helmet

This three-piece liner is removed by first unsnapping the two snaps on the top of each cheek pad. Then pull the cheek pad out and down over the chin strap. Pull the bottom leading edge of the cheek pad down firmly to release the spring tension clips inside the shell liner base plate. The main comfort liner is attached by two snaps at the back of the neck and by locator tabs and snaps on the front of the forehead area. Just pull down on the liner to release these tabs and snaps. The front top portion of the main liner is held in place by two tabs, 4 snaps, and by a leading edge locator on the top of the base plate. Please make sure the plastic part of the main liner is secured under this base plate edge locator during re-assembly.

After washing reassemble the liner system by reinstalling the three pieces. Make sure that the locator tabs on the cheek pads fit into the proper spring tension clips, and all 4 snaps on the top of the cheek pad are secure. The chin straps must pass through the opening provided in the cheek pads. To attach the main liner first attach the front part of the liner, taking care to make sure the leading edge, the 4 snaps, and the two guide clips are in the correct position. Please make sure the plastic part of the main liner is secured under the base plate edge locator during reassembly. The back of the main liner can then be snapped into place.

Washing Instructions for all Helmets with Non-Removable Liners

For best results we recommend washing the liner by hand and letting it air dry. Use a small amount of liquid soap and luke warm water to clean the liner. Do not machine wash or dry. Gently work the soap into the liner and rinse out the liner using warm water. Do not wring or twist the liner to rid excess water, pat dry with a towel or let hang to dry. On removable liner helmets, do not reinstall the liner until it is completely dry.

Harsh chemicals or bleaches may harm the liner system and are not recommended.
