Our History
It all seemed so simple. Invent a better boot,
manufacture a better boot and sell a better boot. And that's pretty much the
way it started. In 1978 AXO was born. Andre Malherbe was the preeminent
rider at the time and a boot was designed to match his fluid and demanding
style. Brad Lackey also tested and developed boots in the early days. AXO
never took the easy road. By looking at every aspect of the construction of
a boot it was easy to make the decision build a better buckle, or use
heavier threads or even mold plastics for shin plates. The AXO brand started
to grow boot by boot and soon became a leader in design and function and
found it?s way on many World Champions in all aspects of off road racing.
Jump to 1984. Welcome to AXO Sport America. The AXO brand was growing too
big for its European cage so it packed some bags and made the trip to
California to set up the AXO Sport America shop. With support from Italian
manufacturing, AXO Sport America grew to become the powerhouse in Motocross
racing and apparel all throughout the 80's and 90's.
If you were fast you
wore AXO. McGrath, Carmichael, Stanton, Bradshaw and so many more used and
endorsed AXO products to win countless US National and Supercross
Championships. Grabbing market share and signing riders at open class speed
AXO had the momentum to invest in products that would define what modern
Motocross and Supercross would look like.
Patented jerseys, kidney belts and
unique gear bags were just the tip of the innovation iceberg. AXO Sport
America even decided that the sport needed a magazine worthy of the
excitement it generated. Inside Motocross celebrated the riders and teams as
never before.
Well, it's now 2005 and AXO America is hard at work designing and developing
Motocross and Off-Road gear that is re-defining what your gear should look
like and function like.
AXO Today
They say you can never go back home but AXO
America is back in Southern California, in our own building and we've even
brought back some of the original staff that was there when AXO ruled the
earth. Motocross and Supercross has grown ten fold since we started in 1978
and our desire to build innovation into everything we do has followed right
in line.
The soul of riding and racing has never died in AXO but it has been
re-born in AXO America. The world has changed. Motocross has changed and we
are once again focused on Moto. Only now Moto means Motocross, Supermoto,
Supercross, Superbike and MotoGP. The American shop is all about riding and
is dedicated to designing and offering products that will allow you to enjoy
riding as much as we do.
Just like in the "old days" we are looking at everything we do and doing it
better than it ever has. New materials, new manufacturing methods, new ideas
and new distribution means you will have access to the best gear you've ever
had. Lighter, stronger and faster. Sounds like a lot of hot air? Not really.
We ride, we race and we listen to you. Get ready for the next big thing from
AXO America. You can expect it because we expect it from ourselves.
