Now that the street
freestyle scene is blowing up it’s no surprise that LBZ is right there in
the mix. LBZ has been there since the beginning supporting the biggest names
in the business, guys such as the Starboyz, D-Mann Daigle and Dan Jackson.
To boost from another rock ’n’ roll godfather, James Brown, Russell just
might be the hardest-working man in the extreme sports business. Thanks to
his ruthless work ethic, an amazing ability to anticipate trends and an
absolute devotion to the extreme lifestyle (yes, those three are all closely
intertwined), LBZ remains, more than a quarter-century later, one of the
most vibrant and essential names in the business. In the intervening years
LBZ has locked down the biggest names in street freestyle, including D-Mann,
Jackson, Pat Stephens in Dallas, Scooter Trash, and many, many more. In
addition to big names, Russell pays special attention to up-and-comers—new,
fresh blood that keeps his brand positioned on the cutting edge of the
street freestyle scene, such as the riders featured here, including the LBZ-supported
Trick Star crew (Garrett Stevenson, Charles Palmer and Michael “Stretch”
Guzman) from Las Vegas and Sumthang Fierce’s Dustin Apgar, who, immediately
following this photo shoot, boarded an airplane bound for Australia to
compete by-invitation in the inaugural International Moto Freestyle
Challenge.
