Alpinestars Men's 2007 Supertech Motorcycle Streetbike Racing Race/Performance Boots Specifications

Supertech Performance: The concept of the Supertech revolves around its
technically advanced inner protective structure, bringing protection and
support significantly closer to the body.
Rather than utilize the traditional single hinge boot system, which was
found to put excessive strain on the rider's knee, Alpinestars has
developed a patented double-hinged assembly for the Supertech. The
double hinge joint allows upper and lower protective structures to
protect the ankle and heel. Moreover, with no true constraint until the
point of overextension, the double hinge joint optimizes flexibility and
feel by following the natural movements of the rider's foot and ankle.
The system also minimizes the chances of sprains and twists, protecting
the ankle from lateral impacts.
Created, researched and developed to be extremely strong, stable and
lightweight, the Supertech oozes performance and comfort. The internal
structure of the Supertech also boasts Kevlar® speed laces, allowing a
precise and secure fit, which protects the shin, ankles, heel, toes, as
well as the external side of the foot. Sensitive areas of the foot and
ankle are surrounded by a combination of GEL and ergonomically designed
closed cell padding. A highly breathable lining reduces perspiration and
the buildup of heat.
The Supertech has been comprehensively redesigned to provide even higher
levels of performance, flexibility and comfort.
. Brand new opening/closure system, featuring a inner side zipper,
Velcro® cover flap and a highly adjustable ratchet buckle, allows for
a customized fit around the calf. This new system ensures superior
flexibility, making the re-engineered Supertech extremely easy to put
on and take off
. Innovative internal structure formed from impact resistant PA66 guards
the shin, heel, ankles, toes and external side of the foot and
utilizes two torsion bars, which progressively increase resistance and
prevent hyperextensions. The removable biomechanical structure also
features Kevlar® speed laces for a precise and secure fit
. Technical lightweight sole provides improved grip and feel on the
controls for optimum riding performance
. Streamlined external structure features impact resistant PU protection
. New Achilles flex zone for increased mobility and comfort
. All sensitive areas of the foot and ankle are surrounded by GEL and
ergonomically designed closed cell padding
. Replaceable PU slider on the back and aluminum slider on the external
side of the heel provide optimum impact absorption and limit friction
in the event of a fall
. Highly breathable lining reduces perspiration and the buildup of heat
. The Supertech is CE certified for safety (all Alpinestars
racing/street boots are CE certified)
Note:
. In European sizes (36-48) correspondent to (3.5-12.5) in US sizes

About
Alpinestars Gear |
One Goal. One Vision.
Alpinestars is once again leading the way in developing rider safety. Having
pioneered countless innovations in boots, suits and gloves, notably the
development of external protection on road race boots in the early 80s and
more recently employing the philosophy on its leather suits, they are now
introducing a new dimension into race suit technology a fully autonomous,
multiple field data acquisition system. The Advanced Safety Technology suit
(AST).
Fitting telemetry and acquiring data from race bikes and cars has been
common practice for some years, however, acquiring data directly from the
body of the rider/driver has not and Alpinestars is developing technology to
allow technicians the ability to analyze the gravitational and impact
forces, as well as the physiological effects experienced by a human when
pushing the limits of a high performance race machine.
During the weekend of the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, MotoGP rider
John Hopkins wore a leather suit equipped with the new A.S.T. system.
Although indistinguishable from his usual race suit, Johns body was
constantly monitored by a series of accelerometers, impact and physiological
sensors.
The impact sensors are mounted on both external and internal surfaces of the
suits protectors to measure the loads sustained and absorbed in a fall,
without impeding or endangering the rider in any way. The sensors record the
maximum impact value subjected to the rider, providing real situation data,
above and beyond the test simulations currently conducted in the Alpinestars
laboratory.
The custom data processor and solid-state memory, encased in an impact
resistant structure and hidden in the back hump on Johns suit, acquire data
throughout each session which can be downloaded immediately into a laptop
plugged into a connector on the suit. The information can then be studied to
analyze pressure point values, lateral G loads experienced, the riders
pulse and the suits cooling performance.
The benefit of developing such technology is the tremendous amount of
information that can be gathered about the stresses borne by a rider and the
performance of safety equipment during a race and in the event of a fall.
Alpinestars goal is to develop the technology to measure all the
dimensional forces at work upon a rider and to allow greater understanding
of material performance thereby improving safety both on the racetrack and
ultimately on the road.
